Questions
How long do they last in Bali heat?
Up to two weeks. The ink develops over 24 to 36 hours, is darkest around day two, then fades as your skin renews. Sun, salt water and scrubbing fade it faster, so placement matters: inner arm and ankle last longest, hands and feet the shortest.
Are they waterproof?
Yes, once the ink has developed. Keep it dry for the first two hours after applying. After that it survives pools, showers and the ocean. Oils and exfoliating scrubs fade it faster.
How do I apply one?
Clean and dry the skin, peel off the backing, press the design on firmly and leave it for 10 minutes, then peel the film away. It looks faint at first and darkens to a deep blue-black over the next day. Every order comes with a printed card of these steps.
Can I take it off early?
Not instantly. The ink sits in the top layer of skin, so it fades rather than washes off. Exfoliating, warm soaks and oil-based makeup remover speed it up over a few days. Plan your placement if you have a wedding or shoot coming up.
Are they safe for kids?
Jagua ink comes from the fruit of the genipa tree and contains no PPD. People with berry, citrus or fruit allergies should try a small patch 24 hours before a full design. The same goes for young children or anyone with sensitive skin.
Is this the same as the "black henna" on the beach?
No. Beach "black henna" often contains PPD, a hair-dye chemical that can cause blistering burns and lifelong allergies, especially in children. Real henna is orange-brown, never jet black. Ours use plant-based jagua ink with no PPD.
How do I pay?
By Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay or Google Pay on a secure Stripe checkout page. Prices are in rupiah, and your bank converts if your card is from home. QRIS is coming soon.
Do you deliver outside these areas?
Message us. We can send anywhere in Bali by GoSend or Grab Express, and to Nusa Lembongan or Lombok with the fast boat courier.
